ACM SIGUCCS sponsors an annual conference each fall. Professionals involved in end-user information technology support gather to discuss and learn about supporting and delivering services to the educational community. The conference also provides a place for IT leaders and future leaders from colleges and universit. The term “User Services” had come into play shortly before that time, and so the conference was given the title of “User Services Conference”, and held in Chicago in April of Susan Nicum agreed to chair a committee for the conference, and a group was formed to organize and produce the meeting.

From through the spring of , SIGUCCS sponsored two conferences each academic year. The Fall Conference, which was originally known as the User Services Conference, focused on topics relating to the direct support of computer users on college and university campuses. Originally meeting at ACM events, it began hosting its own conferences in (fall user Founded in , SIGUCCS began as SIGUCC (Special Interest Group for University Computing Centers) but changed its name in to reflect the growing use of computing amongst large and small institutions of higher education.
